Lake Worth, FL - by Palm Beach School District - Woodlands Middle School will be the first in the School District of Palm Beach County to join the Cambridge International Community of Schools.
Beginning in August, the school will offer the Cambridge Secondary 1 International Curriculum designed for middle school students ages 11 to 14. Cambridge International programs are offered in 10,000 schools across 160 countries.
Cambridge Secondary 1 offers students English, math and science content with an international perspective not found in other traditional programs. Cambridge Secondary 1 is a challenging and rigorous course of study that will prepare students for an array of high school programs including the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and honors programs.
“The goal of the Cambridge program is for students to develop skills to become confident, innovative, responsible, reflective and engaged learners,” said Junnell K. Hughes, testing coordinator at Woodlands Middle.
The Cambridge Academy at Woodlands Middle School will be open only to Woodlands students for the 2015-2016 school year. The Cambridge Academy has been approved to become a Choice and Career Options Program for the 2016-2017 school year and will be open to all Palm Beach County Students through the Choice lottery.
