2017 Street Painting in Lake Worth

“Artists painting on the Streets of Lake Worth”

Lake Worth, FL (February 25, 2017) - The 23rd edition of the annual Street Painting Festival took place again this year on the paved roads of Downtown Lake Worth. More than 200 paints on the streets with attendance of about 10,000 visitors during the two days, Saturday and Sunday.

More than 600 Artists use the pavement as canvas to transform downtown Lake Worth into a temporary outdoor museum of original art and masterpiece reproductions. It happens every February in downtown Lake Worth, Florida.

Traced back to 16th century italy when itinerant artists would use their chalks to transform pavement into a makeshift canvas, street painting has retained its appeal through the centuries. As in ages past, crowds still gather to watch as fine works of art emerge. The “paintings” last only until the next rain, but the lively spirit and accessibility of the exhibition captivates new audiences each year and inspires lasting memories.

This year was crowded again. It seemed more artists wanted to show their paintings and more people wanted to watch how art was developed on the temporary closed-to-traffic streets of Lake Worth.
